Playing albums and lay lists

I've been using VLC on my PC for years & love it. I just downloaded it fir my iPad & iPhone. I'm finding though that when I connect to my local NAS, a WD Mybookwold, it will only play one song at a time, not a whole album or playlist. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks.
