VLC on Sony Bravia Smart TV Icecast

This is my first post to this forum as I am usually able to find most of my answers by searching this forum or Google
First comment/question the interface on the Smart TV version is very different than the interface on my Freebsd, or windows, is that to be expected?
The main reason for the post is I am unable to get Icecast, its like it does not exist. I can get internet radio but I need to type in the URLs individually with the remote.
I can do that but what a pain. Is there something I can place on the Sony Bravia somewhere that will allow me to pick form a list of available stations, like icecast.luac? I tried, just to say I did, to put in http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml but got nothing. I assume there is more to it than popping in the link to the xml file.
