VLC Android's Incognito Mode Should Allow Return to Normal Mode on App Close

Description:

Currently, VLC Android's incognito mode appears to persist even after the app is closed and reopened. This differs from the behavior of incognito/private modes in other browsers like Chrome, Firefox, etc., where closing the app typically ends the incognito session and returns the browser to normal mode upon restart.

This behavior in VLC Android is inconvenient and potentially confusing for users. It requires users to manually toggle incognito mode off every time they want to switch back to normal browsing/playback.

Expected Behavior:

When VLC Android is closed (either by force-closing or by the user simply exiting the app), the incognito mode should be automatically deactivated. Upon reopening the app, it should default to normal mode.

Current Behavior:

Incognito mode remains active even after the app is closed and reopened.

Environment:

App Version: vlc android 3.6.3 nightly version

Android Version: android 10

Device: redmi note 7

First, thanks a lot for the nicely formatted report :)

I tend to agree we could do that. The real difficulty will be to agree on what "app is closed" mean. Let's say you start an audio play queue and then "quit" the app with back while in incognito mode. You probably don't want to save those track in the history, but the app is closed.

I'll open an issue on our tracker with all the info you give a bit later today.

My apologies for the confusion. By 'app is closed,' I meant completely exiting the app, not just minimizing it to the background. Thanks for looking into this.

this feature, present in VLC-Android-3.6.4-Beta-2, is now absent in 3.6.4-Beta-3. Could you please confirm if this removal was intentional or if it's a potential bug?"

We had to revert this behavior for other unrelated reasons. We'll add it back as a setting in a future version. Sorry for the inconvenience.
