Hello

This error has been happening for over a month, but I only now realized that unfortunately it was not noticed here in the VLC Android forums.

The problem is that whenever I play a video in HDR10 SMPTE ST 2086, the video remains in half, being horizontal or vertical, when playing.

This error happens with VP9 and AV1 video codecs.

As I only have the videos in 1080p, but I can purchase it through yt-dlp with FFmpeg and the video is available on YouTube.

Here are the links to saved photos taken as a screenshot of my cell phone, which is a Xiaomi Note 11 HyperOS 1.0.5.0, with Android 13 and Android security update 2024-06-01

(But it's worth remembering that this error of not setting the correct resolution rate on the device should not only be on my cell phone, but also on other people who try to play the video).

I would like this error to be corrected, I have already tried to trigger video or file debugging but unfortunately I was unable to get it.

Here are the links of the MP4 AV1 1080p and MKV VP9 1080p video files that I downloaded with the latest video and audio codecs according to today's FFmpeg BtbN master version.

I apologize for the delay in downloading the post or the resulting error, as it is the only method I acquired as a test to be carried out in VLC for Android.

Remembering that the ARMv7 and ARMv8 versions also get the same error, making it possible to see and verify that the error can be corrected and see that it is not possible to obtain the full resolution rate obtained from the video which does not fit with VLC for Android .

I would like to thank you in advance if the resulting error can be resolved.

Grateful.

Remembering that in the API management of the VLC application for Android, other resolutions can also be tested, but I believe it is very unlikely that it is easy to obtain a 144p video with HDR10 SMPTE ST 2086 from AV1 and VP9 from 144p resolutions to the extreme 8K.

But I believe that if 1080p does not fit according to the smartphone's screen, I believe that from 144p to 8K the error is also happening.

Thank you for your immense and divine attention.
