Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

I changed some permissions, allowing VLC to edit, delete etc...........I think when I set up VLC, those things sounded dangerous and unnecessary. I guess those permissions are required.
Anyhow..changed permissions.......things are working now.
Thank You

Yes, VLC asks for these permissions to let it include edit/delete options on its menus. It does not use such powers autonomously, but only to carry out the user's commands.

Is there any news on getting this fixed? I rely on using VLC on my smartphone whenever I'm in hospital. I have ripped my audiobooks into multiple mp3s. All very well unless I fall asleep, and interrupted, etc. Then if I try to either pause and recommence the playlist I now get this multiple files error. If I try to use the history to find my interrupted playlist I get the error. If I try to just go back a few minutes, or a file or so, I hit the lack of support for such a simple requirement, even before the multiple files error started appearing.
If it can't be fixed I'll have to take time to find an alternative by November and my next surgery. Meanwhile I can no longer just carry my phone around listening to books, equally annoying but not as critical.
