Previous / next track with headset

Hello,

I've just switched to VLC on Android to listen to my music, with wired headphones (equipped with multimedia controls: increase/decrease volume + all-purpose button).
I understand that on Android, the all-purpose button lets you (among other things, pick up / hang up a call) manage track changes:
  • 1 press: play/pause
  • 2 quick presses: next track
  • 3 quick presses: previous track.
I haven't found a way to listen to a previous track, and switching to the next track doesn't work on all screens.
Is there an option to activate?

Thanks

I am not sure I understood your issue. You have a physical button to switch tracks, am I right? If so, does it work with other apps?

Yes, I have a physical button that, among other things*, changes the track.
This behavior works with my previous application “Vinyl Music Player”.

* for the multi-function button, it allows :
  • Play / pause
  • Next track
  • Previous track
  • Answer / hang up
  • Reject call
  • Voice assistant

Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

Log by staying on the application : https://pastebin.com/ukquAazK
Log application in the background : https://pastebin.com/YksdxBdK

In both cases, I used the button in 3 ways:
  • to pause (1 press)
  • to skip to the next track (2 presses)
  • to return to the previous track (3 presses)
If I stay on the application, I can only pause.
If I put the application in the background, I can pause and advance.
Going back to the previous track takes you to the next track + pauses.

I am able to reproduce the same behavior with kind of the same hardware. I'll take a look.
