VLC just stopped working in Landscape reverse mode

The day before yesterday (Wednesday here) a bug appeared. My Android VLS is on landscape reverse mode for video-watching purposes. But this function has stopped working all of a sudden 48 or so hours ago. It no longer provides the functionality which was to auto-adjust between landscape view modes only, never reverting to portrait mode regardless of how I hold the phone. But "Landscape reverse" is now become the exact same thing as "Landscape" mode, which means only on one side fixed landscape form with no auto-adjusting capacity. What happened? Please undo whatever buggy update was done recently.

Just a thought, there is a setting at Settings > Video that says "Lock with sensor", normally checked. As well as "Video screen orientation" on the main Settings page, normally Automatic (sensor). Play around with these and see if you can restore the function you want.

Amazing! That solved it.
But it would have been better if this close relation between the two separate parts of "settings" is mentioned at those places in the settings.

Seconded! two settings both concerned with video orientation should be in the same place - in the Video section, surely. Proper organization of settings is a recurring theme. Glad you have solved the problem!
