I've had this work a couple of times and it's off again. It's SO HARD to figure out how to get it to work. Once it's streaming from my pc to phone then it's easy to CAST to tv. Making my pc a media server.

I once asked a similar question to the devs, and they reply VLC currently do have a few problems when streaming. The dev who replied me said he/she used another software for streaming. It has been some time, not sure how's VLC streaming now.

I actually use FTP to do streaming: use vsftpd to start an FTP server on my computer, then watch movies on my pad via local network, and VLC supports FTP. If you are using Windows you can consider...eh maybe FileZilla? I heard you can make an FTP server with it. Hope it helps!

OMG that first one I didn't even see and exe or a interface nothing.

this is BS. waaay waaay too complicated. PLEX server is so simple... and is on phones, and tv apps. only thing set up is a folder, email account. done.
