VLC not Showing titles or transport buttons on Samsung S23

I've been using VLC on my Samsung S10e for at least two years to stream music via Android Auto in my car. I have just upgraded to the latest S23 (not the plus or ultra), and now there are two problems.1) The music doesn't auto start the stream - I have to open the phone and manually launch it each time I start the engine. 2) Absolutely nothing shows on the screen - no titles, nor transport buttons, so it won't respond to the steering wheel controls (which it used to do). I uninstalled the program (which had migrated from the old phone) and installed the latest from the Google Play Store. I then set the options to exactly those I was using on the old phone, but nothing will bring up the titles.

It's OK, guys. I found the problem.
When I was installing VLC on the new phone, I was asked for File Access permission. I refused, because I only wanted VLC for streaming, and did not want it to scan my phone for music. It turns out, VLC needs File Access permission to display titles and controls in Android Auto.
