VLC lost 4k capability?

Postby raoulduke3000 » 05 Nov 2022 18:15

In this case I am using VLC as an app on my android smart TV. All the files are connected through an external drive. It's a confirmed VLC open source version through which I make periodic donations.

All files are 3860 x ______

Ordinarily, I plug in the drive, it reads the video qualities and that's it. Suddenly it can't find the true resolution. ALL the files that it was previously able to read in 4k now register as 1440p. Video playback information confirms it. Even videos it previously played in 4k now register in 1440p. I've confirmed the files are 4K on another device. I went to bed last night with 4k and woke up with 1440p for a 4k TV :`(

I've cleared the cache and the data. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I have removed the drive and reconnected it multiple times. The TV itself got the same treatment. No effect.

Can anyone please help me get 4k back?

We only changed the text representing the definition. If your file *height* is more than 1440 but less than 2160, it will show 1440. However, nothing changes in the playback, you lost nothing. You can verify the exact resolution of your video by using the advanced options in the player and then choose "Video Information".
