I searched all around and have not found much information or how to troubleshoot. I have VLC on an Android media play and all the dark scenes are extremely dark with little contrast, it is difficult to visualize anything.

I resorted to using my Windows laptop connected via HDMI to play the files, and things seem fine. Not sure if this is a setting of the media player or VLC, but couldn't find any way to make the video player 'brighter' nor could I find any settings.

Really would like not to use a windows laptop to play my media files.

What is an "Android media play"? Is it an Android TV device? If not, you can just slide on the right of the screen to change the brightness.
