VLC cannot find files sporadically

I have a Firestick 4K. I use VLC as the media player (streamer?). When I switch from a paid streamer, say Netflix, to my local network, I often get the error msg: "no media files found please transfer some files to our device or adjust your preferences." Up until that moment, all the videos in my home drive, a PC using Win10, worked fine. I have to unplug the Fire Stick and plug it back in again (thanks, Roy) and the issue is resolved. I do this 3 or 4 times a night, and it is very annoying. Is there anything I can do to avoid this problem? Thank you

Installing vlc on the Fire Stick should resolve the problem for you. Instructions here:

Did you try to tap the back button to see if it makes the app load the network files again?
If not, there is not much I can say without getting some logs. To do so, please see:

Thank you for the replies. I *did* install VLC on the Fire Stick. I have since deleted it and re-installed it several times. And I have used the back button, refreshed, even closed the app and opened it again, nothing works, so I have to re-initiate the stick. It seems to work more consistently when I wait a while after I have selected the traffic cone for network streaming. but it does not work consistently.
