It is about Android version:
If you select and Album that has a long name than you can't see the artist:
You see
thumbnail of cover: In bold letters the title (ok) and below the artist - title of album

If album title is short, that this is ok, but VLC seems to decide in any case to show full album name rather than artist.
That is not good - album title is what you selected, you know it - and it is displayed at the top of the title-list too.
But you don't have a chance to see the artitst, which is bad, especially for samplers.

You might see:
Title
..st - Long, long, long name of the Album

Better would be:
Title
Artist - Long, long long na....

Or can this be changed in any option?
To be fair. The artist of the song that is actually playing is shown in lower line - but that is just for that one song

In Settings, please experiment with: Interface > Single line list title ellipsize.

Sounds like a good idea, but this setting doesn't affect this view.

If there is no effect even after you kill VLC (swipe it off the screen) and restart VLC, then you have stumped me.

Yes, tried that. But it doesn't work in Album-View (List view). I have so many album - I can't use the grid view.
In grid view it works for the album overview - but if you select a single album to view all titles - this doesn't work.

Possible work-arounds?
•Use Android settings to reduce the global font size
•Use an ID3 editor to truncate or rearrange the album name

A developer may read this and say if something in VLC could be changed.

Thanks for your patience. I wouldn't go for a workaround - I can't shrink font size it further and I won't touch the tags just for that.
Let's hope a dev will read this.
I would rise a bug in https://code.videolan.org but I couldnt handle this 2fa. Seems I am to stupid.

The "title ellipsis " preference doesn't apply on this subtitle.

Could you please share a screenshot to show me the exact screen that has an issue?

Yes, I have filed a bug there. To come to this view:
Open VLC, select Album, select one Album with a long name:
Then it opens a view with all titles of the Album.
For each title is listet in big letters the Title itself.
Below that there is: "artist - album name".
See the first post what happens if "artist - album name" has more letters than can be shown in a single line.
It is just cut in a way that last characters of the string is shown, while it makes more sense to show the first (and skip last if needed or use a second line).

Please help ranking this bug (to get it more likely solved) in the link above. Thank you.
