Network path in media library

Hi everybody,
after poking around in the net and in the forum I am unsure whether or not VLC for Android is capable of having paths to network directories in the media library or not. And if so what the syntax is. Can someone help?

For now, it's not possible. But that what we are working on for the next release.

Has this been released?

It's in the current beta. You can now index files from SMB shares.

Yes. In the app settings > Media library folders you can now select SMB shares.

I appear to still be missing something. I'm on VLC for Android and I can access my smb share fine from the browse tab (I did have to manually add it to favorites first) but the Local Network section of the media library folders settings is still blank, and manually adding smb://<ip address>:445/<share name> as a custom path just says The directory path 'smb://<ip address>:445/<share name> ' was not found. Is this not the functionality that was supposedly added a year ago? Do I have my syntax wrong?
