Since 3.3.1 update Resume Played Videos options no longer work on MKV files. The always and Ask Confirmation are available but selecting either does nothing the video always starts at the beginning.

As no one seems to be able help solve this can someone recommend an alternative to VLC for Android

same here. No resume playing and subtitles are not loaded.

when you set it to "Ask confirmation" and you tap Resume from last position it is okay so it's a workaround until the update arrives... so problem is with Always option only it seems... I hope it helps for the developers a little bit

Resume last played position definitely broken in new version for MKV files. MI 9T Pro here and no matter what settings I choose in the "Resume played videos" section, it always go back to the beginning of the video.

This is because the files have a plus sign in them. The devs need to check and see what the update did to break this type of functionality.

So far I have to remove plus signs from my files to get them to work I'm not sure what other characters break them for resuming

I think it's only for new files. Old files worked fine still but new files didn't save playback.

I can't seem to figure it out I got my file to resume playback by changing the name and removing the plus signs but then I change the folder and it won't work again. I created a new folder with random letters and it worked, but using "new folder" glitched it out, even if it was a new folder with windows auto gem number

This is a known issue that have already been fixed internally. To confirm that, could you please try to install the beta (you can do it without signing up for beta by downloading the app here: http://get.videolan.org/testing/android/3.3.2-Beta-1/ ) and tell me if the issue is fixed?

Hi, ever since my VLC was updated a few weeks ago on my android tv the resume play has stopped working ... it used to work so well its so annoying

I have a tv that can only download it via google play so until that ap is fixed it has just wont work. Will it get fixed?

It should be fixed in the beta, but I wanted to be sure.

I've tried, my smart tv does not allow google chrome and you can't download this without it I'll keep trying I hope the testing works and it becomes the updated version! its driving me crazy

You can use the link on any device. When subscribed to the beta with a Google account, all the devices using this account will get the beta via the Play Store.

I tried, its a known problem apparently with Android TVs, when I try to download it it says error ... the only way is through google chrome and I'm having difficulty downloading that which is also a known problem ... I have a few work arounds which i"m going to try

actually I finally managed to download it and it said my vlc would update in a few hours but how do you know if it has? its still says I have vlc 3.3.1 does that mean it hasn't worked
