Prefer embedded album cover over external folder.jpg

I've been using VLC for Android for a long time now, but something that always bothered me is that ever since the redesign, VLC prefers my folder.jpg (which is just a placeholder in my case) over the actual album cover embedded in the tags in the audio library and the file browser.
Strangely, the embedded cover takes precedence in a few other places, such as the Now Playing screen and the VLC notification.

So would it be possible to give us an option to prefer embedded covers over external ones?

Hi,

The reason for this is that we can't know (for now at least) if all the embedded covers are the same or if they are different, which would cause all those covers to be copied to our thumbnail folder. We use to favor embedded cover but the disk usage was raising way too fast.
Instead we now favor the cover.jpg (or similar files that can be used as a cover) and share it across media/albums/artists as much as we can.

If you remove the cover.jpg file, VLC should use your embedded cover instead.

Regarding a setting, I'm not sure we would implement that until we have a way to compare embedded covers
