DLNA not working on Amazon FireStick

Postby bjrosen » 08 Aug 2020 15:16

VLC hardly ever sees my DLNA server. It's seen the server a couple of times and was able to play videos from it the first time but that's it, normally it doesn't appear. The SAMBA server also isn't working, it can see directories but if you try and access a directory it just spins. With the SMAB server I was also able to play videos once but I've never been able to do it since the first time.

A little more detail, my DLNA and SAMBA servers are running on Ubuntu 20.4. The DLNA server is Rygel. My TV sees the DLNA server reliably and Win10 has no problem mounting the SAMBA shares.

I have much the same issue, VLC on Amazon Firestick v 3.3.1
I am running minidlna on Kubuntu 20.04
VLC on Linux finds the dlna server and works a treat as does VLC on Android 9
On the firestick VLC can see an SMB share from a Windows machine (but is unable to access it, not that I want it to) but does not even find the dlna server

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very pleased to hear them

This is a know issue that we are currently trying to fix. For now, the only solution is to force your Windows server to use SMB1

Thanks for the update, good to hear you are working on a fix. The server is a Linux one not windows but I can look at setting up an SMB share until the bug is fixed
