Video still plays on phone screen when casting to TV

I don't know if it's something to do with VLC, something to with Android 10 or if it's a bit of both but now whenever I cast a video to my Samsung TV from my phone (Realme X2) the video still plays on the phone's screen. Before, it used to switch to display an image of the VLC logo. I've dug around in the settings of both VLC and Android but am drawing a blank.
Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

Are you mirroring your screen?

Yes, I'm doing exactly what I used to do before my phone updated to Android 10. Turn on Screencast from phone settings, let it connect to my TV and then open VLC to play the video files. Only now the screen on my phone stays on and also plays the video, whereas previously (prior to Android 10) VLC used to switch to a large static image of the VLC logo on a black screen whilst the video still displayed on my TV as normal.

This is a bug of your phone I'm afraid.
What phone is this?

Bro, this is not an issue with the phone. I too am having this issue. I use realme X2. I tried screen casting from the phone of a friend who uses One Plus 7 pro. He too have the same issue. I was in Android 9 initially when there was no issue. But my friend, the One Plus 7 pro user was already in Android 10 was having this issue, CAST TO SECOND SCREEN ONLY or some option like that which allowed to share the screen such that the phone display only the VLC logo and playback controls was no longer available. When I got upgraded to Android 10, the same has happened with me as well. I tired with an Honor Play phone whivh is still in Android 9 and the cast option works perfectly. So it's not an issue with the phone, but an issue with the Android version.

I agree with @akhil, I have a Huawei P30 and before update to android 10 VLC works as expected when cast to my Samsung SmartTV, VLC used to switch to a large static image of the VLC logo on a black screen.

The phone I'm using is Realme X2, but this is also happening on multiple phones from different manufacturers. Namely a P30 Pro, S10+, RedMi Note 8 Pro and a Oppo K5. It's not the phone. It's most definitely something to do with VLC running on Android 10.

I have literally the same issue, it used to work, but since updating to Android 10, the video always plays in my phone screen too. I've played around with as many settings as I can, but it's the same. I have a Huawei POT-LX3

OK, then the Duplication API might have changed in Android 10

I've got the same on my Huawei Mate 20 X, and I'm on Android 9. It used to work, so my guess is something got changed in VLC at some point...

If that's the case then it should be pretty simple for the devs to figure out the problem.

For some reason it works again. No update or anything ...
Must have been something with my phone I guess.
