sleep timer broken in 3.2.7 Xiaomi Pocophone F1

I use VLC to listen to audiobooks when I sleep. Since updating to 3.2.7 the sleep timer function seems broken and audio has played all night and is still playing when I wake up. I see on Gitlab there was a fix to this in previous versions but this problem is present for me still in 3.2.7.

VLC Version 3.2.7
Android Version 10 QKQ1.190828.002
Xiaomi Pocophone F1

Any tips? Happy to provide extra info if needed.

I encountered the same problem. Sleep timer is broken on redmi note 9s, miui 12.5.1, android 11. VLC is 3.4.3.

I did some experiencing and I found the sleep timer dont work only if I turn off the screen. So when I listen some music, set a sleep timer and put the phone aside with screen off it actually never stops playing.
