I have an Atoto A6 head unit. A Roofull USB DVD drive. Installed the VLC for Android on the radio. Detected the drive as an external hard drive. Viewed the file directories video_ts audio_ts. How do you get the app to detect the USB drive as a DVD instead of a storage device? Anyone figured or tried this yet?

DVD drive are not supported.

We managed to make it work but this is heavily dependent on manufacturer implementations.
And probably blocked by DRM in most cases.
