VLC doesn't run on Samsung S10?

Hi,

I have a strange problem after years of using VLC. I just got my Samsung S10 with Android 10 and installed the VLC from the google store. The app worked for the first days. However, it won't run now. After launching the app, I see a loading screen (seems that VLC tries to load media folders) and VLC hangs up. Already waited serveal minutes, no change. Phone gets stucky until I close the app. Tried to uninstall/install several times, no change.

Does someone has an idea? Thanks!

Go to Settings -> Apps then stop VLC app, then clear both cache and app data and uninstall VLC.
Reboot your phone and reinstall VLC.

What is your Android version ?
And where is your media stored ? On the device memory or on an external SD card ?

Thanks for the answer. I already reinstalled and rebooted without success. I don't remember if I cleared cache and/or data. However, I found a solution: I removed the SD card and inserted it again. Then, VLC asked if the SD card should be added to the media library. I chose "yes" and VLC started as it should. However, this is much the same as I did after a installed VLC for the first time, so it might happen again. I will see...
I never had any problems with VLC and SD card before (on my last phone). I have Android 10 according to the software information of the phone. Security Patch from Jan 01, 2020.

Yes, I had troubles as well with the media on my SD card when I dismissed the option at the first start to let VLC automatically choose the media folders. I couldn't choose any folder on my SD card as they wouldn't stay ticked.
I had to delete cache and app data and to allow the automatic selection, and then I could select the folders I want afterwards.

Can you fetch some logs?

I'm not aware of other people getting this issue on S10.
