Seek & Aspect Ratio

Long time user of VLC for windows! Not sure how active VLC for android currently is, but wanted to voice my opinions of the app. Main issues for me are:

1) Pressing left/right on remote to seek should be similar to holding left/right on the progress bar (but slower). Currently holding left/right during playback to seek is clunky, with no options to customize
2) Some network streams fail to launch with VLC only
2) Aspect ratio is off, most noticeable in letterbox movies, with no way to correct.

Excited about all the recent progress on VLC for android, especially in regards to FireTV! Best video player in the amazon appstore!

i just read this post after I posted my own.

I'm having the same issues.

how is this the "best video player" when it doesn't even work right? Archos video player on the appstore plays videos fine.

I had to promptly uninstall VLC just like I've always done on the PC. I'll check out VLC once in a while on the PC just to see how the player has evolved. .I'm always disappointed and end up deleting it. Looks like my install/promptly uninstall streak is gonna continue.

Too bad there isn't a MPCHC+lav filter equivalent on the fire stick...MX player comes close though.

Didn't know about Archos to be honest, there are very few real options when it comes to media players in the amazon appstore. Sideloading MX with some extra configuration is about as good as it gets for Fire, but I do want to see VLC succeed

This is a ridiculous assessment, maintaining features on that much different systems is hard.

1/ yes you're right, behaviour between VLC core and the android interface for VLC hasn't been unified. This will probably be done for 4.0 release as a lot of code related to that have been rewritten.

2/ What do you mean "with VLC only" ? can you share them ?

2 but 3/ yeah, this is unfortunately a known issue

By "VLC only" I mean that other media players can play these files, but using VLC shows "location cannot be played" error msg
