VLC browser

I am using VLC (maybe a little late) after testing many other players and finally it has become my default payer on my Nvidia Shield.
While other players had each their problems VLC is able to passthrough audio perfectly well and play any video you trow at it. So a big
big thanks to all involved.

I am using the RC4 right now and I can access SMB 2 windows share. But only turn off is the way VLC browses and sorts directories!
Will it ever be possible to have it sort files by date added or even by name without separating the videos in the way it's actually doing:?

A ... .... ....

B

C ... ....

Maybe I just don't know how to change this behavior or an addon can do the job. So please help me find a way if there is, else it would be
cool for development team to do something as this player certainly deserve a better look and listing option.

I am not sure I understand what you need.

Simple! This is a screenshot of VLC when I go to my SMB share folder:

As you can see files are sorted by name, but each alphabet is on one row. This make it hard to have a fast view on your
files as sometime you don't remember the exact filename. Also there is no way to choose: (Sort by date) or other options.

Here is an example of browsing with another software. In this example I used Kodi, but it's the same with almost any other
player:

Here files are also sorted by name! But look how they are presented! You have 18 files in your view compared to ONLY 2 or
3 in VLC

And as you can see I can sort them by date and change viewtype to "LIST" which can be very practical. Also (Important) :Folders
are listed first and in top position. In VLC Folders are sorted with their names and you have a hard time finding them in middle of
files!

Of course non of this is a deal breaker. As I said in my previous post, VLC is a great player and I use it as my main player. But
adding some features like a better browsing will definitively add to its quality and ease of use.
