vlc on fire stick audio clipping sound over bluetooth

I've tried both an older and 4k firestick and when I try and play videos from a network share there is a clipping sound that occurs sometimes on the bluetooth headphones, video and audio are playing nicely except for this, any settings to try? kodi works without this issue but I prefer VLC.
