Connecting to Local Network using VLC Android

Hi,

Trying to connect to my Local Network using VLC for Android 3.0.13 installed on Samsung Galaxy S7, but unable to progress beyond authentication screen where asked to input user name and password.

The computer (NICKBLOGGS-PC) you are trying to connect to requires authentication. Please provide a username (ideally a domain name using the format DOMAIN;username) and a password.

For the username, I have tried the name 'Nick' (My user account name); \\NICKBLOGGS-PC;\NICKBLOGGS-PC; Nick Bloggs

The password is the one that is associated with my user account.

I am able to see the folders and Libraries - Music, Pictures, Movies - on the screen, but can't get past the authentication screen.

I have set up the Home Group in Win 7 with access to all folders and they all are shared.

Thanks for reading a long post.

Nick

P.S. Bloggs a pseudonym.

Did you disable SMBv1?

Hi,

I disabled SMBv1 and when I try Local Network, it just keeps on loading without bringing any of the network folders up.

Any idea what I can do

Thanks

Nick

1) You try to use as name user account: CRTL+ALT+CANC (TaskManager), Processes. Which is you name account in the task manager?
2) Your password is empty?

Try username: \\NICKBLOGGS-PC\Nick

Assume NICKBLOGGS-PC is the name of your PC and Nick is the username you use to sign into windows.

Good Luck
