greatest hits albums merging despite different artists

Recently decided to switch to VLC from BlackPlayer because I wanted to cast audio stored on my phone to my Google Home.

VLC is merging some of my artists together. For example, Chilliwack and Guns N' Roses are merged because they both have albums entitled Greatest Hits... Lynyrd Skynyrd and Creedance Clearwater Revival are merged because they both have albums entitled All Time Greatest Hits. These artists are also appearing in the various artists category. It's odd because I have other artists with greatest hits albums that aren't getting merged.

Metadata was edited using Mp3tag 2.89

Yes, I'm getting the same behaviour and it's a very very very annoying issue, especially in the Artists list.

Obviously, the Artists list must be dedicated to...artists names and nothing else should take over that, neither the album names nor the album artist names.
Not to mention if you don't enable the Show All Artists option then some artists names are missing from the Artists list, which is simply not normal.

All other players I've tried are showing all of the artists names in the Artists list, even the old Music app on Gingerbread which is about five years old.
