VLC gone from chrome web store?

I am trying to get vlc on my chromebook to watch movies - because literally nothing else works - and was dismayed to find that it is gone from the chrome web store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... fpnfhpcndf).

Am I missing something, or is it really gone? Is it ever coming back? My chromebook is useless for watching anything other than streaming videos without VLC.

It is indeed gone. Not from our action. Probably Google is phasing our ARC.

I will ask.

Any updates on this? My chromebook is half a useful as it was without VLC.

If google is not bringing it back, is there a way we can download it outside of the chrome web store?

You can try H.265 / HEVC player from the chrome store : https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... mnpd?hl=fr - it is working fine for me.

Or if your chromebook is compatible with the google play store : https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org ... droid-apps , you can install VLC for Android

Could you bring VLC app back to the Chrome Web Store? Google said they hadn't removed the app and it was a decision by VLC developers. My Chromebook became useless since VLC was gone so I would like to use it again. It has more features when comparing with the default media app on Chrome OS.

They removed it. They said you should use the Android version.
