Add custom path: smb:// ?

VLC 2.1.11 (Fire TV stick 2) and VLC 2.0.6 (Android 6.0.1, Samsung)

Is it possible to "Add custom folder" ("Preferences", 'Directory' respectively 'Media library folder') with shared folders like
"smb://NAS1/Music" instead of local folders of the devices?

So I can choose NAS' music titles / videos from "Audio" respectively "Video" after startup (without clicking deeply into Local Network paths)?

(Fire TV stick has about 5GB only - no place for extensive media library.
Ok, on the other hand is scanning of an extensive media library via WLAN and NAS perhaps a slow setup.)

No. It is still local folders.

This would be a great feature. With several VLC players, I try and store videos on a network drive and it would be nice to add that device path to the media library. (yea, you can browse local network but that's not very kid friendly)
