Unable to authenticate - Android TV / SMB on qnap

Hi all,
I have Sony Bravia - XD93, with 5.1.1 Android. I'm trying to connect via SMB to my NAS (qnap, FW 4.2), but it doesn't work. After typing username/password nothing happens and I still see the same window, asking for authentication.
From the same TV I can connect to NAS with Kodi/SPMC/Archos player.
I tried playing with SMB settings on NAS, but there is not much to set and it made no difference anyway.
VLC version is probably 2.0.6 - installed last weekend from Google Play.
I've seen this problem with VLC in few places - but not really any answers.
Is there any remedy for this? I find VLC to be very nice, but my whole library is on NAS, without network connectivity it is useless.
