i have a samsung chromebook i dont know if that matters or not. but i downloaded vlc player from the chrome webstore and i opened it up and it wont play anything. just shows the app with the logo in middle in a box and nothing else there no way to select any files or anything i think i might of had a way to select files but when i tried to open the video i wanted it was like blacked out and wont let me select it or if i try to click and drag the video into the player that does nothing. i herd a rumor it doesnt run on chrome os anymore is that true?

I think the rumor is not true. Try checking on the task manager and see if the vlc is running. Then let's go from there.
