External storage/Folders: Playback stops after each single file

I am using VLC app 2.0.6 on an Android 6.0.1 smartphone (Cyanogen version) and would like to play audio books from the external SD-Card, using the folder view. Eached audio book constists of many files in a common folder. There are no playlist files in the folders.
The issue is: VLC plays one single file/track at a time from the folder and then stops, instead of playing the next file in order of appearance in the file list
. So after each file, I need to start playback of the next manually...
How do I get it to play all files in a folder continously?

I had the same issue, it seems like a small usability problem with the vlc's user interface.
To actually make it play the next file, you have to "go up" to the folder view, touch the three "dots" and select the Playback option. This will actually play the whole folder, so it will automatically play the next song.

Hey, thanks for the idea!
Good workaround, even if it won't be possible to select the file to start with this way.

I've never seen a player (software or hardware based) that actually plays one song and then stops. Almost always the logical and intuitive way, is to move to the next song.
Maybe there should be an option for this? I'm not even sure if vlc for android is still in development...?

Agree, it is unusual. I checked for options but couldn't find any that could have been applicable. The other alternative is to create a playlist file, but it is a hazzle to do that over and over again for each folder.
