Added a custom directory containing more than 2500 audio files to Settings > Directories.
Nevertheless my Audio library is still shown as empty (No media files found...).

When navigating to Directories in the main menu, my audio files are shown in alphabetical order.
Searching for an artist or a song doesn't work. Nothing happens. What am I missing?

If you see the audio library as empty, then search will not work.

Do you see it scanning your library?

Not a single one of my 2500+ mp3 showed up in the audio library.

Solution found by pure chance, going through all menus in detail...
Settings > Advanced > Clear media database

It took a while to scan all the files, but everything is perfect now.
