SFTP connections are not persistent during session

Not really a bug or perhaps it is, but when using my SSH server as an SFTP source I noticed that within a session VLC constantly logs out and back in.

How do I know this? Because my SSH server is set up to email me each time any logon attempt is made, and when a session logs out. So when I use VLC to find then watch a video, after 5min I ended up with over 200 messages.

No other application I have does this, so why does VLC and could it be stopped? I use the same SSH server as a source for Kodi on my phone/tablet and with my OpenELEC box, and none of them do this.

Yes, for now, VLC is not keeping sessions when browsing.

We don't know when this problem will be fixed.
