After 10-15 seconds hangs vlc 1.6.0
VLC 1.5.2 fine!!!

Could you provide a dump (.ts) of the udp stream you fail to play ?

The most interesting. I tried to reproduce this dump, VLC does not hang after 12 seconds. Freezes only when playing online channel...

Ahhh, you said you tested 1.6.1. Could you try with the very last version of VLC , there may be a fix for your issue.

I am having the same problem. Funny thing is the old VLC for Android Beta v0.9.10 works just fine. Using Nexus 5 with Android 5.1.1, VLC which hangs is latest from Play Store, v1.6.6.
So I have UDP MPEG-TS (H264) unicast stream which I connect to via open network stream -> udp://@:5000. The feed starts to play but after about 20-25 seconds the video stops (hangs). Cannot stop, pause or exit. The whole VLC also hangs and have to be forced to close. With v1.6.6 the progress bar starts counting up when playing. With Beta 0.9.10 the progress bar does not count up but stays at 0:00. That's fine because it's a live stream. I can upload a sample of the video if you need it.
I have not tried any snapshots or nightlies.
