VLC for Android TV - Local Network Problem

Hi. I downloaded VLC player for Android TV on the nexus player. In the local network tab, I can see my Windows media server, but when I click on it to display the files, there is a message "directory is empty". This is very strange as other players on the market like Archos Player can see and play the files on the same server. My Sony Bluray player does as well.

Is this a bug with VLC on Android TV or am I missing something?

Thanks for the help :)

Same issue here on my Nvidia Shield. Is there a particular folder/directory on the network machines where the shared media needs to be stored?

I even tried enabling NFS on my Synology, no such luck originally I just had SMB enabled.
It also recognizes my windows machine but when I try to attach to it I get the same message.

+1. Exact same issue. Sees the server; says directory is empty. Can anybody here recommend another player since we're obviously not getting support from VLC? Just want to play avi, mp4, mkv, etc. from my Windows Home Server to my Shield TV...

Tried Kodi, and I agree, it's great. Works perfectly with my media NAS. Didn't realize XBMC had changed its name.

Unfortunately Kodi for Android does not support 3D. Other than that it's about perfect for me.

I am using VLC for Android TV on my Sony Bravia 2015 series TV. Facing a simmilar problem. I can see my DLNA server under network. When I click on it, I just get to see an empty screen.
