VLC for web streaming - version?

Hi, I'd like a VLC that shows content being played, (artist/ title) for web streams, and also a version that will play various stream formats, I can only play one stream on the reccomended stable version. Streaming music only.
Haven't found a single version that works, (other than reccomended vetsion, but limited streams, no meta data) tried several.
I have a Motorola Droid Maxx, running 4.4.4.
