Something I see quite regularly with VLC is that Videos are rotated incorrectly where as the stock video player or something Cyanogen's GalleryNext will have videos orientated correctly.

You can rotate your phone to rotate the video, or set a rotation in preferences.

That's simply insulting. Other video players from development houses not renowned for video playback software get it right, VLC has no excuse and should do better.

My apologies if it came across as being insulting.

VLC on Android uses the phone's rotation setting as its rotation setting if the rotation is set to Automatic. It's a bit different from Windows where usually the display cannot be rotated.

But the point here is that of the three video players on my phone, VLC is the only player to suffer from an issue whereby videos are often rotated incorrectly. Why are other players getting this right and VLC so wrong?

That is weird indeed.

It works fine on our testing devices...

Maybe if you upload a problematic sample we can look into it.

This isn't just one or two videos, it's all videos whereby it's filmed vertically, no matter what, VLC assumes it's filmed properly (horizontally): https://www.dropbox.com/s/ei6256l1ajuvv ... 9.mp4?dl=0

And to make matters worse, there's no way to easily rotate the video. Especially not from the playback screen where one would most want that option.

Hi did you miss the examples? You kinda just went silent.

Yes, I saw the post.

Please keep in mind that many developers are people who do this in their spare time.

My apologies. Just to verify, this is fixed in 1.1.3
