I downloaded vlc apk package for android http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-android.html for gotab 7 tablet. When i tried to install it said cannot open this file

i click it says can't open. I try package installer and it says there was a problem parsing the package
Is package installer the one to use? Do i need to unzip this file and what program would i use?
I am not good with android. Thanks
