Dell Venue 7 "x86 build on non-x86 device" on load

Hello!

This is the first time I post a bug for VLC - I love the software on all my devices!

Recently, my Dell Venue 7 was updated with KitKat and when trying to run the Android VLC app, I get the error listed above :

VLC Version: 0.1.4, Beta

The Situation the Problem Occurred
Any time I try to run the app, the error screen as indicated above appears. I have tried starting VLC from: selecting a video file from ES File Explorer, a file structure exploring app; starting VLC from the Google Play page for VLC ('Open' button); a shortcut from my welcome screen; the Installed Apps grid list; the Apps tab in the Settings app. Each attempt results in the above error screen.

The problem is reproduced consistently; I have tried many uninstalls and reinstalls.

I love VLC! I love the work you guys are doing.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Please try a nightly build.

Also please run https://sysinfo-for-android.googlecode. ... ndroid.apk on your tablet and post the results.

I have installed v. 0.9.3 from site, arm7 architecture, and it works! Thanks for the great job everyone!

That is wrong.

You should take the x86 build instead.

I have a Dell Venue 8. It also gives the error message "x86 build on non-x86 device" when running the x86 build of vlc version 0.9.5. And the arm7 build works for me too. The equalizer doesn't seem to do anything, though.

Can you please try 0.9.7.1 ? I think I fixed it there.

Thanks. It looks like you did fix it. The x86 build of 0.9.7.1 doesn't say "x86 build on non-x86 device" anymore when I run it on my Dell Venue 8, but instead starts normally. And the equalizer now works too.
