We are currently aware of an issue affecting HW acceleration for some types of samples.
Can you share the logs and ideally a sample?

Thanks a lot, I see something that looks wrong in the log but I don't think it's affecting performance.
Can you test one last thing for me? Can you disable the subtitles and tell me if playback works better?

I would doubt that such a device would be capable of 720p.

If my device is incapable then mx player would not have been able to play and it plays smoothly.

Your display is 240x320 and according to the tech specs, your device can do video playback of WVGA (800x480) videos.
720p is 1280x720, 2.4x the number of pixels of WVGA.
I think your device cannot smoothly decode 720p, you will probably have dropped frames and/or a slower playback.
