Nexus 10 and VLC

Hey guys, other then these minor issues VLC works great on the Nexus 10.

1. Video - When pressing the lock button in landscape, the view changes to portrait and then locks.

2. Video - When pressing the lock button in portrait, the view changes to landscape and then locks.

3. Video - When playing an audio file the VLC cone icon appears in the notification area and you can multitask. No icon is present during video playback. When trying to swipe the notification area (or anywhere else on the video) the volume is controlled.

4. Video - Swiping for screen brightness and volume works...but would rather have a button or slider. There is tons of room for them next to the play, back, and forward buttons.

5. Video - Controls are really close to the default Android buttons.

6. Video - When going to the home screen or pressing power to turn the screen off while playing a video and then resuming the video goes back a few seconds instead of just pausing.

7. Directory - In directory view every file is labeled as a "song". Example: My folder called "Movies" has an avi and mp4 video. VLC say "2 songs".

8. Directory - In preferences when changing directories for media files VLC still displays all folders.

9. Audio - Audio player is ugly as hell. The buttons are really big and the VLC cone is huge in portrait view..lol

I have not had a chance to try external media from a hard drive yet. Great work, I think this is the best player on Android so far.

1, 2 - Works fine for me

3 - Please subscribe to http://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/7071

4 - You can disable the gestures in preferences if you find them annoying.

6 - This is an intrinsic property of seeking, since VLC starts playing from the decoder's first keyframe (this is due to intra-prediction).

7 - Minor issue. We can change it to "<x> media files" if you are really that bothered by it :)

8 - This is desired behaviour, the "Directories" option affects the media library only.

1, 2 - Tried again but does it every time still. I am using 0.0.7. should i try a different build?

3 - Cool thanks.

4 - I am only able to disable brightness for some reason.

7 - Doesn't really bother me, just thought it was a bug.

Hmm, it seems that the useful portion of the log is missing. Could you re-try with the latest nightly build and see if it still happens? If it does, could you follow the updated instructions at http://wiki.videolan.org/Android_Report_bugs?

Will do.

Edit: Of course, now that I'm prepared to dig in to debug, it just works. I'll see if I can break it tomorrow.

Do you recommend continuing to download nightlies in the interest of bug reporting? I haven't been able to "break" the DL from 12/14 so far.

Yes, we do.

I cant get the seek bar to work when streaming avi files only. Also, VLC does not display the total play time for these files while playing. When avi files are local the seek bar works fine.

Using 0.0.9-git

I used the beta from the market before and figured to give the nightly a try. (version 0.09 build from 24th)
Now I can't hear any DTS sound any more. Granted I just have two movies with dts so that's hardly representative. If you can guide me through how to get logs I'll post em here.

Thanks, though if VLC doesn't crash (it plays the video without sound) it doesn't create a log file.

Please scroll down to the "Logcat log" section and read it carefully.

Can confirm 1 and 2. And inability to fastforward/rewind when playing over samba is very sad.

Here two logs from a crash. I used todays nightly:

This is on a Nexus 10, using 4.2.1 latest build. Rooted, but with stock rom.

Vlc not playing videos

I had media files in  external SD card and had preserved them in folder lock. Before resetting the phone to factory settings.  I removed SD card. Afterwards I inserted the card again and downloaded same folder lock app. I tried data recovery option and dialed *5555 also but I am unable to get back the files which are in sub folder Films of My Files. My VLC player also shows them present in my mobile's SD card files with B/W cone and cross in centre of cone but unable to play these videos. What should I do? Please help.

What do you mean by "folder lock"?
