Nexus 7

This is great stuff. I'm in awe.

I tested v0.0.8 2012-11-15 A8 with NEON on my Nexus 7 (A9 with NEON). All of the files in your download zip work fine, except as follows. (I'm reporting this here rather than on the form so I can provide more details, and so you can seek clarification. Hope that's okay!)

HTC_make_it_mine.wmv: No video when hardware acceleration enabled; video fine with no HW accel. Audio fine.

in_to_tree_720p25_3000.mp4: Frequent internittent horizontal white(?) lines across video, ONLY when in portrait mode. Happens with and without HW accel. I tried to get a screenshot, but they never seem to show the lines, which makes me think it's not a decoding error but maybe a timing error (buffering/refresh), or maybe the Nexus just ain't fast enough. I could try to video the screen using a camera if that would help.

Recital_24bit.flac: No audio or video, and play segued straight into vlc-player.mp4 on completion. In this situation, vlc-player.mp4 showed no video but played audio.

vlc-player.mp4: Same as HTC_make_it_mine.wmv.

Audio files (eg, Mr_Zebra.mp3) don't stop when pressing BACK arrow to go to file list. I assume this is by design, although I find it rather disconcerting.

If I can help further, please ask.

The same issue on an HTC OneX, i don't know what can be done about it.

Set the orientation in the preferences to "Automatic".

I think it happens when scaling down high res videos (done by the OS using the hardware). In portrait, the video must be scaled from 1280x720 to something like 720x405, and lines appears. with smaller videos, less scaling must be done, so no artefacts. No issue when scaling up. it may be due to the slow memory on tegra3 devices (and maybe lack of double buffering).

Even my old HTC Desire can scale 720p or 1080p correctly without artefacts (but of course it's laggy as hell)

The way we display the video is a little bit hackish (stealing an internal buffer from the OS and writing into it), we are working on another way to display videos, maybe it will work better, time will tell.

I can't seem to get hardware decoding to work on videos where it does work on other players, including stock video player. Is this a known issue on Nexus 7?

Quick update, using v0.0.8 of 2012-11-26:

I now don't get any stripes on in_to_tree_720p25_3000.mp4—regardless of the orientation setting.

Harware accel still doesn't do video with HTC_make_it_mine.wmv. It works with in_to_tree_720p25_3000.mp4, but seems to stutter at the start whereas without hardware accel it's silky-smooth.

Hi everyone. I downloaded VLC through Google Play. Entered the URL to play a live stream and nothing appears to be happening. I am not sure if perhaps I am doing something wrong :( or if this url will just not play for anyone. If there is someone who would be willing to give it a try and let me know, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!
