I discovered that latest nightly (rev. 67f42c4) have this problem(among others). But not with an apk built from source(ANDROID_ABI=armeabi) with the same revision.

This does not happen with specific files. I see this behaviour with this public sample as an example:

With the built from source apk, those files play just fine if opened with a file manager. But a crash occures if the file is opened from within vlc/Directories.

Crash when choosing a file in "Directories"

.... files play just fine if opened with a file manager. But a crash occures if the file is opened from within vlc/Directories.
Actually this universal. It's not related to rm/cook files. Sorry I didn't check earlier.

Opening files from the library or through a file manager/explorer works. But choosing a file while browsing in "Directories" causes a crash.
