Direct download of APK / F-Droid repository

Hello, it would be great if someone could put up an APK file for direct download, or upload VLC (beta or final) to f-droid.org.
I'd like to test on my Geeksphone Zero but it's not registered with any Google service.
All the best, Viktor.

You can try this pre-release beta for your device, Geeksphone 0, here: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/and ... -debug.apk

Cool, thanks! In theory I should be able to use the "android-v6-fpu" version too, as the Qualcomm MSM7727-2 has a FPU. However, both versions crash. Indexing files goes well, but then, after a few seconds without any action on my side, the program disappears. Hope to find some time and compile my own version so I can send some more helpful debug traces.

You do not need to compile your own version to have debug traces.

Thanks, I just read about vlc_logcat_<something>.log. I'll send it as soon as I get it.

Just installed the latest nightly v6-nofpu VLC-debug.apk, 7927207 bytes, sha1sum 9c708b0bf2eb5d5e0454f929f19e689d5bb6c125.

Still quits about three seconds after indexation finished, and... I don't find any log :(

Code: Select all

localhost ~ # find / -name 'vlc*' /data/data/org.videolan.vlc/databases/vlc_database
Running the ZerO Community ROM 3.0 (a modified Cyanogen 2.3.7). Will try to compile my own version and see whether I get anything more helpful.

Check your adb logcat output.

Thanks again!

That's everything that happened _after_ initial logcat output, when I started VLC again and it crashed again.
Is that enough, or do you need the whole log including the indexation process?

Did you try without hardware acceleration?

Sorry, how do I do that? Do I finally have to compile? :-) Or starting from command-line with a parameter?

No, you don't have to do any of that stuff. Check under Preferences :)

Either it's not there or I sleep with open eyes. Checked both normal and Cyanogen options.

OK, those are the preferences of VLC itself. They disappear too quickly as that I could change anything, but now, having had a close look, I could see that the box is unchecked.

P.S. Sorry not to get immediately the right words, my interface is French...
