Hi,
Just like the beta version - v2.1 has a problem with the Hebrew encodings for subtitles (both of them).
Instead of Hebrew characters, there are Xs inside upright rectangles (I don't know what that symbol means, try it and see)
only punctuation symbols appear normally.
I use LG G3 (D855), Android 5.0. Hebrew is the phone's default language.

What encoding are the subtitles in? Have you tried changing the subtitle encoding setting?

Yes I have. As I said, there are two Hebrew encodings in VLC for Android, and I've tried them both with the same results.
These subs work fine in VLC for Windows, I should add. My default encoding there is set to Hebrew ISO 8859-8, which is the standard and also exists in the Android version, but nonetheless the results are different.

Correction for the version number: I use v1.3.2 (the version from the Play store). Is there a build in the nightlies that might fix that for my phone (LG G3 855)?

Does your phone come with a Hebrew font?

Of course, it's my phone's default language. The VLC interface shows Hebrew menus with no problem. It's just the subtitles that are messed up.

Someone tried the VLC for android in view udp remote streaming? I'm not able to get it working. From logcat I can see it start to receive data stream and to decode but the screen remain blank. I guess the problem came from this info showed by logcat:

D/VLC ( 2644): [5f43251c] core input: video is disabled, not selecting ES 0x1023

But I don't understand why it disable video only in case of streaming (local files work ok).
Someone have a solition for this issue?
Thank you

My spanish is a bit rusty but Jonh says he's got a Samsung S5 running Android 5.0 and h installed the new 1.'4.1 version of VLC but when he tries to play a 1080p mkv file from about 6Gb the video starts to stick & hang.

That's right, the VLC player begins to stick.

These are the characteristics of my s5 :
CPU / processor Exynos 5 Octa 5422 / ARM Cortex- A15 + Cortex- A7
Processor Clock / 2100Mhz core Octa -Core 32bit
RAM 2GB LPDDR3
Graphics Card GPU ARM Mali- T628 MP6 .

If I set the VLC with HW decoder , the video begins to go very slow or sticks .
What is the problem? it may be that VLC can not support video formats with high bitrate

As it turns out when I play a video mp4 1GB , did not present any problem

When playing an icecast stream and having the app in the background, the sound starts chopping. I have both confirmed this in your vlc beta app and when using libvlc and compiling it for Android. I am working on an app and I am having issues with the Samsung S3 and have had reports that the issue also is present on Xperia Z1 device as well. The scenario goes:
1. Starting an Icecast stream with aac+.
2. putting the app in the background.
3. put phone in sleep mode.
4. sound starts chopping.

However when

1. Starting an Icecast stream with aac+.
2. putting phone in sleep mode.
3. sound DOES NOT chop.

Is this a known issue or is this something you are working to fix? Because i have seen some threads about choppy sound, but on Windows and other platforms, not Android.
Let me know if you need any more info, logs etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

VLC 1.4.99

- Audio:
- Playlist sorted in reverse order compared to previous release

- Video:
- Video keeps playing in background despite the option turned off,
- Video doesn't fit the screen after rotation (video screen orientation set to "Automatic"). Need to touch the screen to force the video to fit the screen.

VLC 1.4.99

Update: switching from audio to video irremediably forces VLC to stop, when trying to read a video.
