This is unlikely to work without big changes, to be honest.

Hi Jean-Baptiste,

Thank you for responding. I will stop regular testing and wait to see if any updates are posted to this thread.

I will switch to using XBMC on a Raspberry Pi for my media playback requirements.

Regards,
Ian.

Hi guys, I came across a thread indicating that there was work being done to make VLC work with the Revue. I can't tell you how much I look forward being able to do just that. Overall, I am happy with the Revue unit (I was a bit concerned when Logitech decided to abandon it), and am even more excited to see communities such as VLC working to make the user experience better.

I'm just John Q. User, and would not know the first place to start when it comes to testing and logging (I read this thread, and see that there are some difficulties), but would be happy to donate about $20 towards the project. Is there just a general VLC fund, or is it possible to give money to specific projects?

I will check back here, but I mainly wanted to let you guys (and gals, if there are some involved :) ) know that I really appreciate your efforts!

Issue is not the money, but the time ;)

I can understand time constraints. But, I see you have time to ask for the money and develop for Win8. Why not get this finished and ask $3.95 for it. The added formats would make the older processor units far more viable and you would be able to finance your work better. You've beat around the bush for months and months. Either say it isn't going to happen or proceed as promised. This doesn't do your excellent utility the respect it should garner.

Right, the rush to Win8 is positively glacial.

Has anyone tested VLC for Android streaming IPTV on the Sony box?

As seen in the thread above, the Google TV runtime is incompatible with the Android-x86 bionic runtime.

VLC for Google TV

Postby LeightonAU » 06 Dec 2013 06:36

I tried to test VLC for Android on a new Google TV (Android) device but even with secure install turned off neither the Android Play Store or Google Play via Chrome would let me install the program. I get the following message:
"Your Device isn't compatible with this version". Will this be fixed before the Beta version is finished?

See above, the Google TV runtime is incompatible.

This latest Google TV is a Sony (not a Logitech) product, and currently runs Android 3.1

Yep, take a look in the thread, as the Google TV runtime is at fault, not Logitech or Sony.

No.
Google TV is a mess to develop for.

My Sony Google TV has just received an automatic update and is now running Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). If I try to install VLC Beta, the Google store still reports "Your Device isn't compatible with this version". If the problem lies with Google, how do we get those guys to wake up and fix the x86 runtime?

Google redirect this to Sony so I am pursuing them, in the hope they can pass back the complaint.
