VLC App for Android will not shut down

VLC works fine except that the app does not stop when close it. I have to go into app settings and do a force stop. How do I shut down the app without going in settings?

This is in More ... > Settings > Audio > "Stop on application swipe"

In Android, "closing" an app does not kill it. It remains in memory (for easy re-opening), though Android may kill it if it needs its memory for an open app. Click on the above setting and you can stop the music by calling up the list of Recents and swiping it away.

Long-pressing pause during playback will stop and clear the queue.
