Seek bar impossible to use at the edges

Postby Eiernase » 22 Oct 2024 13:53

This only becomes apparent when playing long audio files (over one hour).

The track seek bar goes from edge to edge, which makes it impossible to be precise as I have to swipe to and from where the actual touch screen even is. This causes it to register more poorly the more precise I try to get toward 0:00 or the end.
This is very frustrating when trying to skip to, say, 8:45 of a 12 hour track, since I can't be precise – not because the touchscreen or my swiping isn't precise enough, but because I'm going off the screen. I also can't just skip to the beginning and then use the "Skip x seconds" buttons, because that takes forever for that amount of time in long tracks.
Another problem with swiping at the edges of the screen is that I use gestures for navigation rather than a navigation bar. This means that swiping from the edge of the screen equals a "back" command – extremely annoying to trigger when I'm just trying to skip through a track.

I propose that the seek bar has a left/right margin from the edges.

I am using a Huawei P30 with Android/EMUI 12 and VLC version 3.5.7
