VLC 3.5.3 on Android TV 11 Plays Some .mp4 Videos with Frozen Video

Postby Mauser » 21 Dec 2022 17:41

MECOOL KM2 Plus Android TV Box, Android TV ver 11. VLC loaded from Google Play

I have a very large number of TV shows archived as .MP4 files - all have always played perfectly with multiple devices, including VLC on my W10 computer and Android phone.

With this new Android TV Box, SOME of those .mp4 files do not play correctly with VLC. No errors seen, but when the file starts playing the audio is fine, but the video stays frozen on whatever the first scene is. The same files still play fine on my Android phone with VLC, and they play fine on this Android TV Box using different video players.

I have tried comparing the file/media details between the files that play fine and the ones that do not, and nothing jumps out at me as a difference. Any ideas where to start looking? I have not yet tried making any setting changes within VLC.

Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs.
To retrieve the logs on Android TV, you should follow this: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... ck#p509973
Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).
