how to select single song play in playlist

Postby mysticfree » 14 Oct 2022 16:12

I've installed VLC 3.4.3 on a new Amazon Fire 7. I have 2 playlists on an SD card created for use at a wedding. How do I get the playlist to stop after playing a single song? I haven't found any options for single play. So right now, the next song automatically plays and has to be manually stop. I've got a week to figure this out so I thank you very much for any help you can provide.

The three-dots legend to the right of any play queue entry has an option, Stop after this track.

Playlists are a sequence of media it is assumed you want to play in sequence! To play a single medium, go to Audio > TRACKS and tap on the track to play. It alone is selected. Though you can use the three-dots legend to the right of another song in the result set and select: Append

Use More > Settings > Media library folders, so it displays only tracks from the SD card. Adjust Android media settings so tapping the screen doesn't go out over the loudspeakers.

VLC's 3-dot options show: play, append, shuffle, information, insert next, add to playlist, delete. Thank you for the Audio>Tracks option.

Unfortunately, there are a bunch of three-dot legends. If you get to the one I'm talking about, you'll see it. Pull the currently playing song from the bottom of the screen to the top, exposing the play queue. Locate the currently playing song (animated icon). I'm talking about the three dots to the right of this entry.

But I stand by the recommendation you not use "VLC playlist" in place of "folder" for media you intend to play individually! Adjacent to the Audio section, there is a Browse section, which works like a file manager—You can see your media in their folders on the SD and tap to play one. (Warning: in older VLC versions, starting a track from here implicitly enqueued the rest of the folder.)

Thank you, Spike1. Your recommendation is an excellent one. I've gone through each song and put a prefix number in their title in the order that they should be played. In the track list, they show in perfect arrangement. This should make it easy for our "music dj" - some guy who's cousin to the bride and has A speaker - to follow along with the wedding program and play the correct song. Fingers crossed.

In any case, many thanks again!

Use leading zeros if more than nine so they sort correctly (09 < 10)

Weddings are still rehearsed, aren't they?
